Selecting Outlets

You can select outlets using one or more of the selection tools in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. Outlets may be selected if they fall within a defined rectangle or circle, or selected individually. Details of how to make these selections are given below. You may also want to select outlets that satisfy given search criteria. To do this you need to use the search facility.

Note: Currently selected outlets are shaded grey on screen. To show these outlets on a printed version you must colour the outlets.

To select multiple outlets individually and use the selection tools in combination you must hold the SHIFT key when making the selection. Without holding the SHIFT key any selection you make will replace outlets already selected. Holding the SHIFT key whilst making the selection has the effect of adding the new outlets to those already selected. Non-retail outlets such as entrances are not selectable.

To select outlets individually:

  1. Click Select tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan.
  2. Position the cursor over the outlet you want and click.
  3. The outlet is selected.

To select outlets within a defined rectangle:

  1. Click Rectangle selection tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan.
  2. Position the cursor over one corner of the rectangle you want to define. Click and drag to the opposite corner of the rectangle.
  3. All outlets falling completely or partially within the rectangle are selected.

Note: Individual outlets may be added to the selection by holding SHIFT and clicking on them. You do not need to click Select tool first.

To select outlets within a defined circle:

  1. Click Circle selection tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan.
  2. Position the cursor over the centre of the circle you want to define. Click and drag until you have a circle of the size you need.
  3. All outlets falling completely or partially within the circle are selected.

Note: Individual outlets may be added to the selection by holding SHIFT and clicking on them. You do not need to click Select tool first.

To deselect outlets individually:

  1. To deselect outlets individually click Deselect tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan and then click on the outlet you want to deselect.
  2. The outlet is deselected.

To deselect all outlets:

  1. At any time you can clear the current selection by clicking Deselect all tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. When you are using one of the three selection tools you can also clear the current selection by clicking on any part of the plan other than an outlet (for example a road).

Note: Click Zoom to selection tool to redraw the plan to show all currently selected outlets at the largest possible scale.
