Searching for Outlets

You can select outlets by searching for those where information held matches text you have supplied or those which have a floor area within a specified range. Combining the two gives even greater search facilities. Details of how to carry out a search are given below. You may also want to select outlets directly from the plan. To do this you need to use the select, rectangle select or circle select tools.

To search for outlets:

1. Click in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. The Search Goad Plan screen is displayed.
2. To search for outlets where information matches your text make sure the Search by field box is ticked. You can search for text within certain fields of information held about the outlets. The fields available are Fascia Master, Primary Activity, Road Name, Holding Company, Use Class and Category. Click the appropriate radio button to select which information field to search within. Only one category may be selected. Then enter the text to look for in the Search for text box. The search is not case sensitive.
3. To search for outlets by floor area make sure the Search by area limit box is ticked. You can give the floor area in square feet or square metres. Decide which to use and click the appropriate radio button. You must then enter either a maximum floor area or minimum floor area or both. If just a minimum area is entered then all outlets of that area and above will be selected. If just a maximum area is entered then all outlets of that area and below will be selected. If both minimum and maximum areas are entered then all outlets between, and including, these limits will be selected.

   Note: You can tick both the Search by field and the Search by area limit boxes to carry out a combined search in which selected outlets must meet both criteria.

4. Choose whether you want to replace any currently selected outlets with those found by the search or add the new ones to them and click the appropriate radio button.
5. Click Find at the bottom of the screen. Any outlets which satisfy the search criteria are selected and shaded grey on the plan.
