Changing the Scale of a Plan

If you want to see a smaller part of the plan in greater detail you need to zoom in. To see more of the plan in the map window you need to zoom out. You can also choose to zoom to the print scale, zoom to the original display scale (usually 1:4500), zoom to the scale required to show all currently selected outlets in the greatest possible detail, zoom to one of the preset scales or zoom to a specified scale.

To zoom in:

Either

  1. Click Zoom in tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan.
  2. Position the cursor on the location you want to be positioned in the centre of the screen and click until you have zoomed in to show a small enough portion of the plan.

    -or-

    Position the cursor in one corner of the area you want to cover and then click and drag to define a box. The plan is redrawn showing just the area within the box, zoomed in to fill the entire map window.

    Note: When zooming in by clicking on a location the plan zooms to the next preset scale. When zooming in by dragging a box the plan zooms to the precise scale required.

Or

  1. Click Slider zoom in control at the top of the slider or click and drag the slider towards Slider zoom in control.

To zoom out:

Either

  1. Click Zoom out tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan.
  2. Position the cursor on the location you want to be positioned in the centre of the screen and click until you have zoomed out to show a large enough portion of the plan.

    Note: When zooming out by clicking on a location the plan zooms to the next preset scale.

Or

  1. Click Slider zoom out control at the bottom of the slider or click and drag the slider towards Slider zoom out control.

To zoom to the print scale:

  1. Click Zoom to print scale tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. The map is redrawn at the print scale of 1:1000 centred on the current map centre.

    Note: You can use the pan tool to reposition the map if necessary.

To zoom to the original display scale:

  1. Click Zoom to scale tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. The map is redrawn at the original display scale (usually 1:4500).

To zoom to the scale to fit the current selection:

  1. Click Zoom to selection tool in the Tools panel to the left of the plan. The map is redrawn at the scale which shows the currently selected outlets in the greatest possible detail.

To zoom to a preset scale:

  1. Click on the arrow next to the current scale to the right, below the map. Select the preset scale required from the drop down list.

To zoom to a specified scale:

  1. Highlight the current scale in the View Scale box to the right, below the map. Overtype this scale with the one you require.
